Wall Portraits, or Why I Don't Shoot and Burn
January 6, 2015
I just read something that made me think, "Yeah, that's it! That's one of the reasons I won't offer just digital files without any prints."
Why won't I offer a disc of photos? Well, let me ask you a couple of questions before I answer and you may come to the same conclusion as I have.
How many photos do you have on your phone, tablet, computer? How many of them are really special images that you want to show off? When people come into your home, how many of these wonderful images do they see displayed on your walls to ooh and ahh over?
You know that insurance company that had the ad with the older woman with her "Photo Wall?" It was kind of ridiculous and the images were small and hodge podged to the wall in a disorganized manner. Really, this is how our images usually are displayed online. Very randomly. When you want to show a particular image to someone and you only have it in digital form, how long does it take you to find it? Then you show it to them on your phone and it's really no larger than a wallet. This is great if you are away from home, and no one wants a wall full photos that looks like it was done by a 5 year old, but it is so nice to have actual wall portraits that commemorate a time, an experience, an emotion, and most of all a wonderful connection.
If you have 20 wall protraits, all matted and ready to go in a frame, what a lovely way to show your beauty and to see it yourself day after day. You certainly wouldn't put them all up at once, but when they are ready, you can have one frame and switch out your portrait when the mood strikes you. The rest, you can display in your Folio Box on a coffee table, put one on an easel, or keep them private just for you and your significant other.
This is why I don't offer a bunch of photos on a disc. When you have a portrait session with me, you will want everyone who comes into your home to see your beautiful images. You will want those images to be passed down, as something very special, to your children, grand children, and great grandchildren. This is important. This just doesn't happen when they are all digital.

Exist in photos.
